Research

At Enjoy The Paws we love dogs, we have dogs ourselves, we walk ours and other peoples dogs.  We train our own and other peoples dogs.  We like to keep as fit and healthy as we can and are passionate that we follow the same principles with our fur baby family members,   So it has always been a keen passion for us that we also only give our dogs the best diets that we can.

We study human and dog nutrition and follow the amazing work of some fantastic people who we would like to tell you about so you can see how important nutrition and health is to our us and our products

Dr Karen Becker-Shaw and Rodney Habib

Dr Karen Becker-Shaw a qualified vet and Rodney Habib have been studying the affects of diet and nutrition on dogs and cats for many years.  They are two of the worlds most popular and trusted pet-care advocates.

Over the past few decades many dogs have been getting sicker and dying prematurely and they have completed ground breaking research to try and find what the science is showing as some of the implications that are causing such bad health in our canine companions.

The authors of a number of books

  • “Real Food For Healthy Dogs and Cats”

DogRisk

DogRisk is the only independent and university-based research group in the world, which analyses the connections between diets, environmental factors and chronic diseases that affect dogs. DogRisk is based in Finland at the University of Helsinki.    They are largely funded by donations and other external funding, their mission is to help dogs live happier, healthier and longer lives by preventing chronic diseases.

For the past 15 years, their team of researchers have conducted free-to-view research about a range of chronic diseases in dogs, such as cancer, diabetes and epilepsy.  Through their research, they show how dog owners can make informed decisions about their dog’s diet and the factors they can change, which will benefit their dog’s health and help them to avoid these chronic diseases.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, their research group also made international headlines when it was part of a multi-university research project in Finland, which proved dogs could be trained to detect COVID-19 infections and subsequently trained COVID detection dogs for Helsinki-Vantaa airport.   If you would like to see more about the work that they do or even donate to the research work that they do you can click on the link below to their website.
